Online Micro Jobs Guide And Top Legitimate Micro Job Websites

Micro Jobs is one of the best ways of making money online for students, housewives, and others who do not possess any IT related skills. They are very popular in countries like India, Pakistan, Indonesia, South Africa, Netherlands, Philippines, United States, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Nairobi, Kenya etc among various other countries.

However, with so many Online Scams on the World Wide Web, it is hard to differentiate between legitimate Micro Job Websites and Scam Micro Job Websites. Therefore, I thought of compiling this list of Online Microjob Websites that are legitimate.

But before getting to the list of Best Micro Job Websites, let us understand in brief about Micro Jobs.

What Are Micro Jobs

Micro Jobs are online tasks that can be completed in few minutes. The tasks are very simple and basic knowledge of internet is sufficient for anyone to complete these tasks.

At Micro Jobs Websites, you may be asked to,

  • Sign up for newsletters on websites
  • Like or share something on Facebook and Google Plus
  • Tweet or retweet something
  • Make posts on forum
  • Post comments on blogs
  • Create a Gmail or Yahoo account for someone
  • Rate an Android or IOS application
  • Classify products into categories
  • Find information on Google
  • Judge the sentiments of the tweet etc, among various other jobs

How Do MicroJobs Websites Work?

The websites which offer Micro Jobs, have two types of people registered with them

  • Employer: A Person who wants to get a task done
  • Worker: A Person who wants to make money by completing tasks

The employer posts the task on the Microjobs website after depositing the payment to be made to the worker. This payment is kept held by the Microjobs website to avoid any non-payment issues by fake clients. The worker may then search tasks at the website and choose the one which he is capable of completing.

After completion of the task, as per the employer's demand, a worker will have to submit certain proofs of completing the task. The employer then review's the proof to check if the worker actually completed the Job.

If the job has been successfully completed, he marks it as complete, and the Micro Job website releases the payment to the worker. The website usually charges the employer a small percentage as their commission.

Workers are not charged anything. In the case of any disputes, you may contact the website, who will at its sole discretion settle the same either in the favor of worker or employer.

How Much Can I Earn With Micro Jobs?

The pay for each task depends on the complexity of the task. More complex the task, higher is the pay. The average pay per task usually varies between $0.01 to $1

Some websites restrict the tasks to certain countries, usually USA, UK and other Tier 1 nations. At other websites, there are no geographic restrictions, but the tasks are restricted depending on your accuracy of completing the previous tasks.

Also, at some websites, limited tasks are available while at other websites there are enough tasks to keep you busy the whole day.

So your monthly earnings will vary greatly depending on the website and your skills. The ones, who can clearly understand the instructions of the employer for completing the task can make up to $300 per month.

How Will I Get Paid?

Almost all the websites pay in USD. Since workers are from across the globe, most of these websites make payments through Payment Service providers like PayPal, Payoneer, Payza, etc. Some companies also make payments through a check to people in USA and Canada.

You can find Payment Modes for each of the websites on their respective websites.

So, now that you know about how Micro Job works, let us get straight to the list of Best Micro Job Websites.

Best Online MicroJob Websites

There are many websites which offer micro jobs. I have listed down only the Top 5 Companies which are legitimate and provide enough opportunities for you to make money

1. Amazon Mechanical Turk

Amazon Mechanical Turk, popularly known as Mturk is the most reliable website for Micro Jobs as it is owned by Amazon. Also, the pay per task at Mturk are generally higher than other Micro Jobs website.

At Mturk, Micro Jobs are called, Human Intelligence Tasks or HITs. The person who posts the task is called Requester and  the person who performs the task is called Worker.

You have the option to either register as Worker or Requester. To earn money with Mturk, you need to first Register with as a worker.

If you are already registered with Amazon, you can directly sign in through your Amazon account. You will then have to send a request to register yourself as Worker. Amazon will review your request and may either approve or reject it at its sole discretion.

No one apart from Amazon knows the criteria for approving or rejecting requests. However, requests of people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and most other parts of Asia are generally denied, a fact which has denied. People from US/UK and other Tier 1 countries should definitely Register with Mturk.

2. Microworkers

For those who are unable to register on Mturk, Microworkers is a good Alternative to Mturk. It is one of best paying micro job sites and by far the best for Micro Jobs in India

At Microworkers, the Job to be done is called a Task. The person posting the task is called Employer and person performing the task is called Worker.

Microworkers allows the employer to restrict the task to workers from a specific country. Usually, more tasks are available to people from the USA, UK, and other Tier 1 countries than their counterparts in Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries like India, Pakistan, Philippines, Nigeria etc.

In the beginning, you can only complete up to 40 tasks. You will then have to wait for the employers to rate your task before you can complete more tasks. A negative rating will affect your overall accuracy.

At any given time, if your accuracy in the last 30 days falls below 75%, you will not be allowed to complete more tasks. In that case, you will have to wait for the negatively rated tasks to move out of the 30 days period. So you must make sure to complete only the tasks which can complete successfully.

The pay per task usually varies between $0.05 to $0.5 with people from Tier 1 countries getting better pay per tas. So, if you are from Tier 1 country, you can earn up to $50-$100 from tasks. However, if you are from Tier 2 nation, your earnings will be significantly lower and it is difficult to cross the $30 mark.

Microworkers offers common registration for both workers and employers. While registering make sure you enter correct information including address, as Microworkers will mail you a verification PIN to your postal address which you will have to enter to withdraw your earnings for the first time. This process is necessary to ensure that people don't create multiple accounts.

The minimum Withdrawal amount at Microworkers is $9 + Withdrawal Charges(7.5% for Paypal)

3. Figure Eight

Figure Eight is another good source for completing Micro-Jobs. They work very differently from Microworkers and Mturk.

Figure Eight offers you micro jobs called “tasks” through some third party websites which then pay you for the task. Among the websites offering Crowdflower tasks, Clixsense is the most trusted website.

Usually, the tasks at Figure Eight are very different from Microworkers and Mechanical Turk. You will be required to completed several similar sub-tasks in order to complete one task.

The tasks generally include

  • Finding information on the internet
  • Classify products into categories
  • Analysing the sentiments of the tweets
  • Extracting data from Invoices etc.

Figure Eight is the best way to make money if you are from Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries as it does not have any geographic restrictions. Rather, Figure Eight restricts the tasks depending on your accuracy of completing previous tasks.

As a beginner, starting at Level 0, you will have access to very few tasks, and at times no tasks. The ones that are available have very low pay rates and so a lot of people think it is a waste of time.

However, as you complete more tasks with good accuracy, you will be promoted to newer levels. At Level 1, you will have a decent number of tasks and you will have the leisure of completing only the tasks that pay well.

At Level 2 and Level 3, you may just have enough tasks to keep you busy the whole day. Needless to say, your earnings will substantially increase at these levels. However, you need to be very patient with it, as reaching level 1 may take up to 2 months.

At Level 1 and above one can easily make $1-$1.5 per hour. Also, Clixsense provides you with an extra opportunity to earn by completing Surveys.

Also, you get paid a bonus of up to 16% of your total earnings for completing your daily checklist. You also get a bonus of $5 for every $50 earned through tasks.

They also run a weekly task contest . The top prize of $50 is given out each week to the person who completed the most task the preceding week while the others in top 10 get different prize amounts.

With everything put together, if you can work for 4-5 hours each day and if you are able to complete tasks with higher accuracy, you can make up to $200-300 per month irrespective of your geographic location. This is much higher than any other micro job websites.

At ClixSense, the minimum payout is $10. It does not offer Paypal as an option to withdraw your earnings. You can, however, withdraw your earnings via Payoneer, Payza, Tango Card etc.

You can find more information on ClixSense in my review of ClixSense. That will give you an idea about how you can maximize your earnings at ClixSense

4. RapidWorkers

Rapidworkers is another good website for Micro Jobs. Its interface is very similar to Microworkers but with few important features missing.

Like Microworkers, the person performing posting Job is called the Employer and the one performing the task is called the Worker. It also offers common Registration for employer and the worker

At Rapidworkers, Minimum Payout is $4 + Withdrawal Charges(6% For Paypal)

5. Short Task

Short task is another good website for Micro Jobs. Here the person who posts task is called Seeker and the person who performs a task is called Solver.

Separate registration and sign-in are required for Solver and Seeker. Minimum payout at Short Task is 10$

Final Words About Micro Jobs

Mturk and Microworkers are by far the best sites for Micro Jobs if you are from the US. However, with Microworkers, tasks will be limited and you may not be able to work for more than an hour a day.

Figure Eight may not offer good pay per task for level 0, But once you reach Level 1 and above, pay per tasks increases drastically and you have enough tasks to work for 8-10 hours per day. If you are from Tier 2 nation, you should definitely register with Clixsense and spend more time working with Figure Eight tasks as it does not have geographic restrictions.

ClixSense is a good option even for people from the Tier 1 countries. In fact, folks from Tier 1 countries should focus more on ClixSense Surveys than tasks as a lot of high paying surveys are available especially for people from US and UK

Supriya - June 25, 2018

Hi Aquif, iam from india but living in saudi arabia.I can join with microjobs.I have a doubt regarding getting payment that is I can give an account details which is in india and work within saudi arabia….is it possible or saudi bank account is necessary for this registration.pls give a reply

    Aquif Shaikh - June 26, 2018

Hi Supriya. Most companies pay you via PayPal or Payoneer or some other gateway. You then link your bank account to these Payment Processors. Hence, as long as you are able to create and verify your paypal and payoneer account, the country of registration of these accounts as well as the country of bank account does not matter. Hope this helps you.

rubi - June 10, 2018

Hi Aquif
i live in Egypt.can I join these websites ?
i am good at data entry , translation.
can i find tasks for me easily?
i am still a beginner.
thank you for the article.

    Aquif Shaikh - June 11, 2018

Yes, Rubi. As far as I know, each of these websites accepts registration from your country. As for availability of tasks, Figure Eight provides tasks independent of your country. As for the rest, you have to try it out yourself to see if there are enough tasks in your country.

Amal mondal - May 19, 2018

    Aquif Shaikh - May 19, 2018

I am not sure about it, Amal. Back then when I registered, no mobile verification was required. We just needed to link our Facebook account. I suggest that you create a ticket with the ClixSense support.

Vishak Pandey - April 12, 2018

Dear Aquif,
This is a great service you are doing by providing authentic information about online works. I heartily appreciate you for providing us time. I have seen some other blogs about survey sites etc which actually serves as the referral site for the author.

I am currently in an Indian central government job which pays me around 25-27 K per month. Due to the financial commitments, I am looking for more revenue by doing some part time online work (obviously after office hours). As I am a goverment servant, I am not supposed to do any private job without obtaining permission from the place of work. But my boss has previously denied me permission to take up some weekend teaching jobs. So I am planning to register for some of these sites you mentioned in my Wife’s name. Do you think that would create any trouble? I mean do we need to interact with our employer through video conferencing or by Skype at any point of time while carrying out these tasks? Your advice will be very helpful.

with regards,

    Aquif Shaikh - April 12, 2018

Hi Vishak, that should not be a problem. There is zero interaction between the clients and you.

Taru - April 5, 2018

Aquif, u are a very good person, giving your time and advise to people. Not many people are interested in helping others, but u seem to be very kind person. Keep up the good work and may god bless u.

    Aquif Shaikh - April 5, 2018

Thanks a lot for your kind words Taru. Such comments inspire me to help others.

Moises Blanco - April 2, 2018

Hi I’m from venezuela
Could you advise me which are the best pages for my country?

    Aquif Shaikh - April 3, 2018

Moises, a lot of people from your country are active on ClixSense. You should definitely try and see if you can make some money there. You can also try Microworkers. Though, I am not very sure how good it is in your country.

Sudip Das - March 2, 2018

Hi Aquif

Its really helpful and now I got a clear view. Tell me one thing can I earn more than 15k per month by doing micro jobs because I am gonna leave my job.

    Aquif Shaikh - March 2, 2018

Sudip, Online Microjobs are good to earn a side income. I would never advise you to rely on MicroJobs as your primary income source. If you are going to leave your job anyways, you can make few bucks with Micro Jobs. For full-time income, you can consider Blogging, Youtubing or you can take up Freelance Technical jobs.

JulieAnn - February 28, 2018

Can we work with those microjobs by just using our cellphones?

    Aquif Shaikh - March 2, 2018

I am afraid JulieAnn, it would be really difficult to complete Micro Jobs using a cell phone.

Stefan Alexander - January 25, 2018

Hi, Aquif! Thank you for such a clear guide to MicroJobs. I see many people not really aware of what they are about and this article should help a lot of people. I’ve actually used some of these websites a little while back to hire a few people. It works great for small tasks and one-off jobs. Now, as work with a virtual assistant (met him on those sites), I don’t need to go there anymore. I just give my assistant a list of tasks and see them get done. He probably uses the services of these websites when the tasks are too many, which only means that MicroJobs are great! Thanks again for such a good article!

    Aquif Shaikh - January 25, 2018

Stefan, I am not very sure if these websites are ideal for smaller tasks to be outsourced to a single person. For that, I’d prefer Upwork and Fiverr. These websites are perfect for crowdsourcing.

Aman Poira - September 30, 2017

I didn’t receive OTP in my jio sim while registering with miceoworkers. Someone told me it’s because of default DND mode activated in our sim cards. What’s the actual problem and how to solve?

    Aquif Shaikh - September 30, 2017

I don’t think it has anything to do with DND. But yes, even I do struggle sometimes with both Outgoing and Incoming SMS on Jio. The issue is most likely network related. You can either wait for some time or try using some other number.

Harish kumar - July 27, 2017

Hai Aquif,
Thanks for sharing this wonderful article…
Great job!
This article is really nice and it is very informative.
Can you please suggest me which one is the best micro jobs website really pay well

    Aquif Shaikh - July 28, 2017

If you can register with Amazon Mechanical Turk, it is the best. You can also try ClixSense and Microworkers. Apart from Micro jobs, ClixSense also allows you to make money by completing surveys.

      Bala - April 27, 2018

hi…. they have rejected my amazon mechanical turk registration when i applied…. not sure why…???? do you know any reasons. please reply

        Aquif Shaikh - April 27, 2018

Bala, I’ve clearly mentioned in the article that Amazon, in most cases, does not approve an Mturk account for people in India. So, you are not the only one to be rejected. You can try ClixSense and Microworkers for Micro Jobs.

Md. Rashed - May 18, 2017

i am from Bangladesh. Can you please suggest me, which web site will be suitable for me to do Microjobs and is there any complication with “PayPal” in my country?

    Aquif Shaikh - May 21, 2017

You can try Microworkers and crowdflower microjobs at Clixsense.

As for PayPal, I am not sure what exactly the reason is, but it is not available in Bangladesh.

Valentine - April 1, 2017

Why is it that most of this jobs are not available to Nigerians? I have searched all through the internet but I have not found any good job that pays very well for a Nigerian to engage in. Please I need your help

    Aquif Shaikh - April 17, 2017

    Hi Valentine,
It totally depends on the employer to select countries from which he wants people to complete the Job. Most employers prefer workers from the USA and other developed countries. You can do nothing about it/

Uma - March 17, 2017

Really interesting to know about the internet world and thanks for giving good ideas to earn money.

    Aquif Shaikh - April 17, 2017

    You are most welcome Uma.

kit leonid batiller - January 17, 2017

how about the Capital Surf ?

    Aquif Shaikh - February 4, 2017

I am sorry Kit, I have not done research on it. There are hundreds of such websites which start and close down on a daily basis. My advice would be to work only with websites which have been around for at least 3-4 years.

himabindu - December 27, 2016

hi..I appreciate the way you presented the information. you have included pay for various country citizens. I have never seen this info on any other blog. Thank you so much for the information. I am going to follow this blog.

Thanks a lot for your kind words Himabindu. Hope you do enjoy my future articles too.

    Aquif Shaikh - October 13, 2016

    My pleasure Sharon.

abhi - February 22, 2016

i was registering at microworkers and had a problem while verifying my number. i did not received the verification PIN on my number. i asked for pin 2 times and now i have exhausted my limit of asking to send pin for free. have any idea about how to solve this issue

    Aquif Shaikh - February 22, 2016

I did not face any such issues so I was not even aware about the limited attempts thing.

Have you completed any tasks at Microworkers? If not, I would suggest that you create another account with different Email ID. Make sure to clear your cookies and reset your connection so that your IP Address is changed.

In case, you have completed many tasks, you may write to Micro Workers customer support and explain them the situation. Chances are slim, but they may resend you verification pin. Hope you get it sorted out.

Abhishek - February 13, 2016

Hi, is there any legitimate site for data entry and form filling. I have heard that money is good in these kind of jobs.

    Aquif Shaikh - February 13, 2016

    Hi Abhishek,
I would rather say money is very less in Data Entry and Form Filling Jobs. There must be Hundreds of websites which claim to offer High Paying Data Entry Jobs. However, most of these websites are scams. They will ask you to deposit money and will never give you any such Jobs.

The only websites which offer Data Entry Jobs with good pay are Upwork and however, those Jobs are not plain data entry. You need to have excellent command over MS office products and preferably have an MS office certification. But even with the best skills and certificates, it will not be very easy to get these Jobs because of the competition Involved.
